The Cloister Gallery Presents
“Capturing a Moment”
An Exhibit of Etchings and Lithographs
By Elizabeth Heide
February 5 – February 26, 2008
The Cloister Gallery at St. Andrews Church in Marblehead is proud to present “Capturing a Moment” an exhibition of etchings and lithographs by Elizabeth Heide. Ms. Heide’s work uses linear and abstract images of birds and botanical studies to explore our connection to the natural world.
Ms. Heide is an avid birder and environmentalist and her work reflects her deep commitment to and awareness of the nature that we live in but don’t always pay attention to. Ms. Heide describes her work as “…An effort to capture a sense of movement, capturing a moment, not to freeze it but to interpret it and commit it to memory.”
Ms. Heide formerly worked at the Peabody and Essex museum in Salem as the exhibition and conservation coordinator. She studied printmaking at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston as well as with printmakers Liz Shepherd and Dan Weldon. She has also done work in figure drawing and sculpture.
The public is invited to the opening reception for “Capturing A Moment” at the Cloister Gallery on Sunday, February 10 from 12PM to 3:00PM. The Cloister Gallery is located at the Episcopal Church of St. Andrew at 135 Lafayette St. (Rte. 114) in Marblehead Massachusetts. The Gallery is handicapped-accessible and there is plenty of free parking.
